Home Loan Repayment Calculator
See what a loan costs per month, fortnight or week, how much of it is interest, and what a regular extra repayment does to the term. Change any assumption — nothing here is a quote.
What the calculator is doing
- The repayment is the standard amortising figure for the amount, rate and term you enter — the same formula lenders use — worked out at the frequency you choose. Fortnightly is 26 payments a year and weekly is 52, so those figures are true fortnightly and weekly amounts rather than a month split in two.
- Total interest is what the loan costs over its life if the rate never moved. Rates do move, so treat it as a comparison between scenarios rather than a forecast.
- The extra-repayment result runs the loan down period by period with the additional amount applied to principal each time, then compares the interest and term against the same loan without it.
Common Questions
Is this the repayment I would actually get?
No. It is an estimate at a rate you entered, before fees, and assuming the rate never changes. An actual repayment depends on the lender, the product, the fees attached and how the rate moves over time.
Why is the fortnightly figure not exactly half the monthly one?
Because there are 26 fortnights in a year, not 24. The calculator works out a genuine fortnightly repayment. Some lenders offer a fortnightly option that is literally half the monthly amount, which pays the loan down faster because it results in an extra month's worth of repayments each year.
Does paying extra always make sense?
It always reduces interest on the loan itself. Whether it is the best use of the money depends on your situation — an offset account, an investment, or keeping the cash accessible may matter more. That is a conversation for a broker or adviser, not a calculator.

Any interest rate, buffer, fee or percentage shown is an assumption you can change. It is not a rate or fee offered by Sabea or by any lender. Lenders assess income, expenses and liabilities using their own methods and policies, which differ between lenders and change over time, so an actual borrowing capacity, repayment or cost will differ from these figures.
Tax and transfer duty figures are estimates based on published schedules that are revised each year. Confirm current amounts with the Australian Taxation Office and Revenue NSW, or with your accountant and conveyancer, before relying on them.
